So I again missed a few days. School is a pain in butt :C. Anyways I guess I take this
For the 10th day I had orginially planned a completely different series, but since that series isn't really that interesting (other than an example of when Nintendos hyping up a game failed) I decided to put another series
And which one is it that we are covering today.
Punch out
Punch out seems normally like your run of mill boxing/sports game. It has a really complicated history and I think that this video can explain it better than I can. (Btw I love gamer from mars videos. He has just a nice voice, makes interesting stuff about games and he doesnt do too much jokes)
Anyways punch out is a boxing game but it is more of a reflex game. Each of the opponents attack differently and you need to either dodge or counterattack them. Another approach I like about the franchise is its cartoonish look and characters. In the wii version (my favorite) the characters are full of personality and just plain fun. Most of your opponents (in wii version anyways) are likeable (altho a bit stereotypical parodies of their countries people, but tbh I dont care) and feel like people with their likes dislikes dreams and goals even if the cast is a bit over the top(the shortscenes in the wii version tell a bit about how they live). And tbh Doc Louis )little Mac's goals) is one of my alltime favorite sidekicks/supporters in any videogame ever. I love his character so much, like he is a great dude (and loves his chockolate bars)
Also I love how the franchise improves itself with each game. The graphics get better, the gameplay is fun and the opponents you fought went from (racist?) stereotypes to stereotypes yet likeable characters. And if my love for wii version isnt explained let me tell you two things
1) the last opponent of the game is freaking Donkey Kong himself
2) the Wii version has a bittersweet ending (arguably)
But yes I am surprisingly fond of the franchise. While it is not my favorite, I have a great respect for it uwu.
