Brighton and Twila from the Mario Party series. In fact, all the hosts that originated in the Mario Party series. Maybe they can be the source of conflict for the next game, where they fight each other to be host and risk nuclear annihilation.
I adore Brighton and Twila. They were my favorite hosts and had a huge impact on the game boards. I would love to see them again. I thought we would see them in Mario Party again, but it never happened.

I don't think after Mario Party 9 we got original characters. That's a shame because it's one of the few times I'd think they should return somehow, even in their own series.
But Mario Party is pretty much dead at this point smh.

Thankfully, all the mini-games are unlocked from the start and they are fun to play. I like most of the games. It is my least played Mario Party, however. I even played the GBA version more.

I love Shroomlock from Toadland Yard, and I liked the missions for all the various characters. I actually enjoyed the story in the GBA game, but I did not play it as much as the others.
I liked the various areas too, like scary, desert, tropical.

A few things I didn't like were this whole rock-paper-scissors thing, but at least Tumble supplements you with a decent amount of minigames to get those darn Mushrooms.
I always lost that game. I swear they cheated with that game. I pick rock and he would pick paper. I pick paper and he gets scissors.
The jokes were good, and Shroomlock reminded me of Pennington. I liked that they used so many characters too like Chain Chomp, Ninji, Sushie, and Dolphin.

The rock-paper-scissors thing seemed 50/50 for me, but I do agree that it's probably one of the most annoying things in the game.
I also like how they put Huffin' Puffins, Salvo the Slime, and other lesser known enemies. If there's a series that's most likely to return RPG-niche characters, it's Mario Party.... before Mario Party 9.

I haven't played all of the Mario Party games, but from that series, I kinda liked M. C. Ballyhoo from 8, and his talking hat Big Top. If I were to choose a Mario Kart roster I'd probably put him in it. His voice is hilarious and they could make it even more hilarious with clips for him getting hit, etc in Mario Kart.

M.C. Ballyhoo is the best. His voice is so hilarious and I like mocking his memorable laugh. I like him and Big Top alongside Brighton and Twila. I suppose his resemblance to Chuck Quizmo is a factor?
Ah, yes, Mario Party 5. It's a pretty triumphant return of Star Spirits, and I do really like that nice touch. I don't like Mario Party 5's capsule system, though, since capsules are received purely at random and capsules can screw you over. Orbs are much, much better.
I liked Twila and Brighton more, but he was a good host. Did you guys like Toadsworth as a host?
Orbs are much better, but MP5 was the experiment that led to MP6 and the superior orb system so I am thankful for it. I loved the dreams. Pirate Dream was fun, and Toy Dream has one of my most memorable 50 turn games.

I liked all the hosts, to be honest. I mean, the original characters. But I did like Toadsworth as well.
I do agree that Mario Party 5 is what gave rise to orbs, but I'm saying that orbs were so much better.
As for 50 turn games, that's, like, the only thing I play nowadays. I remember playing Space Dream for 50 turns? I don't remember. What I did remember is playing Towering Treetop for 50 turns and with 3 CPUs, and it was a blast.
I heard lots of people complain about Toadsworth, but I have his sounds effects and voice clips.
Orbs were like items and capsules combined into an awesome ball of madness. MADNESS.
Yeah, I always do 50 turns now. Awesome, somebody else that loves to play with CPUs. I actually like playing against them. I like Egadd's Garage the most. That place gets insane with all the orbs and event spaces. I always get robbed by Pink Boo on Towering Treetop, but I always land on duel spaces there to help make up for it.

Dude, Toadsworth is fine. I love his voice, it's so easy to mock and all.
I know, right? People seem to like items from the previous Mario Party games the most, but orbs are even better because it's so fun setting traps (especially knowing you won't get screwed by them).
I love to play with CPUs, particularly the easy ones. My opponents are usually Daisy, Waluigi, and Wario, and I rig the game to guarantee Wario gets last place. For starters, I get 9 stars, Waluigi and Daisy get 3-5 stars, and Wario gets 0 stars. When Wario is about to get a star, I switch controllers to control Wario, make him refuse the star, and switch controllers to normal and resume. When a computer wants to duel, with the controller method I make the guy duel Wario (he'll lose against the winning player, me, anyway) for all of Wario's coins, even if it is 3 coins. If someone meets Pink Boo, I control that person with the controller thing to make that Pink Boo steal Wario's stuff.

Toadsworth was also the line judge in Mario Power Tennis.
Have you ever owned all the spaces in one area of the map? I did that near my windmills in 7. I called it my turf and it was a minefield for the other players.
YOU ARE EVIL! I have never thought to do any of that before. You are plain devious. I will never slap you again. You might plot revenge.

I think I did this in Faire Square. My sister (Toadette) and I (Mario) teamed up and made every space near the star in Faire Square full of character spaces. It's an orb minefield, and computers that get in rarely have enough coins to pay for one star (unless Twila is being a jerk and makes it 5 coins per star).
My sister and I are evilly brilliant. Maybe you will refrain from slapping me next time for the fear of us taking control of you and forcing you to refuse a star.

I love abusing the square and Twila at night for cheap stars. Place Piranha Plants around there to really hurt the CPU. I have devious with orbs, strategy, and mini-games, but I never thought to go meta on the game and manipulate results. I even hate giving myself stars to start with.

Smithy: It was creepy un his ultimate form and also, besides all the enemies of all the series of Mario, he was crude and pure evil, wanting that everything on the world, was relationated with war and it consequences: Suffering, slaves.... Or at least I saw that on Smithy...so..he is a potential enemy.
Post by Rainvainz on Sept 17, 2015 16:22:49 GMT -5
Smithy's battle also has a very sinister looking background if you look at it closely. I love his various forms and how his stats change during the battle. If they ever did bring him back then I would want more dialogue. I hate that he only had a few lines and he was not as fleshed out as his minions.

I found Super Paper Mario to be a nice blend of humor and drama. I guess it could have been a little too serious for some, or cheesy. It is a game that divides the fans. It was my personal favorite.
