Remeber when I said captain Syrup wasn't going to be the only underrated plattformer villain on this list. Well i guess its time to talk about a certain rather underrated one
You know what sucks. When we dont get games released here. And thats what happened with the Densetsu no stfy franchise. Apparently NoA thought that this seaplattformer was too japanese for the west. So it was left in the land of rising sun
But we arent here to talk about obscure games. We are here to talk about villains. Soo without further ado let me talk about my favorite Densetsu no Stafy character,Ogura
So basically Ogura was the main antagonist for the first three games. He is an eel demon who caused havoc years prior the game and was sealed into a jar by Papa star (Starfys father and the king of pufftop) and old man Lobber (the most badass lobster to ever exsist, who puts the fighting animals from kung fu panda to shame ) . Years later, Starfy himself accidentaly ended up by unsealing Ogura, who ended up causing havoc by thunderstorms. In the end tho, Starfy (with help of a stubborn clam (Kyoorusuke)) sealed Ogura again...until the second game in which Ogura basically summons his own minions called the puchi oguras and kidnaps mama star (geez that sounds similar to bowser )
For me however the best apperance for Ogura was in Densetsu no Stafy 3. In this one the jar is destroyed by the true main villain (Iburu/Evil) who apparently waits for Ogura returning. It is revealed that Ogura worked to Evil the whole timeThrougth the game Ogura rushes to meet his master (who he funnily calls his personage) while reminscing events (and causing some problems as well ). Finally he returns to his master, sho powers him up. However Ogura decides to betray Evil by using the final evil crystal against him ending up killing Ogura ib the progress
So why do I like Ogura so much? Honestly I dont know for sure but let me try to explain. First of he is better (and more original) than the other three(two powerhungry villains (one being a possible K Rool ripoff) and one "he doesnt love me so I will rise h***" are no match for things revenge and freedom wanting eeldiot)For me Ogura is a mixture of a rather intelligent, somewhat plotting (proved in DNS 2) revenge wanting villain which is always good. However DnS 3 does show a more humane side of him (ahem I cant seriously be the only one who thinks that the scene where he harassess some seal kids ONLY because they remind him of his deceased minions/children is wrong in so many levels) also this guys wish for freedom is only rivialed by Antasma from the mario series imo. And finally, the way Oguras arc was finished is....satisfying. i mean i feel sorry for him but I rather see him go away in this way than dilute in something less original and becomes too boring. Also the scene in which he just rushes to the rescue with the last evil crystal is in my top 10 best scenes in games and top 10 best sacrifices in ANY MEDIA
All in all I think Ogura is a cool, underrated villain who proves that there can be redemption.
Warning there will be krokodiles in the next update
