It's OK. No, you're not dumb.
I was thinking that role models mean a lot to both Starfy and Ogura. Starfy loves his family and best friend Moe. Ogura may not have been seen as a positive figure, but he had his children who he cared for, the Puchi Ogura, and took orders from Evil even though he was bad.
They also are highly expressive, Starfy expresses great positivity, even though he does not speak (except in manga), Ogura loves being mischevious.

They're both associated with...smallness (if that's a word). One can fit through tiny spaces, while the other can shrink others to be able to do the same.
