(WARNING: THIS THREAD CONTAINS DISTURBING CONTENT, AND MAY END UP BEING YOUR NIGHTMARE FUEL. SOME DISTURBING CONTENT INCL- Oh wait, ESRB rated these games E so we shouldn't worry... right?)
Let's start off with this. Skip to 0:38 for the scariness.
Basically anything that was utterly terrifying in a game that's not a horror game and not rated M shall be shown here.
The pokedex entries. Some of these can be....really creepy and odd. Mostly ghost pokemons. Examples include Yamask,Hypno,Mismagius,Phantump and so on...
In pokemon mystery dungeon explorers the dark future segment. The future is just grim and creepy...and also when you remwmber that this all is caused by a god gone mad
There are yoo many pokemons with creepy pokedex entries to mentoin. Didnt Honedge have a creepy entry too. Or Jellicent. Still basically we could fill this thread with creepy pokedex entries
I'm going to throw in more Metroid. For a Nintendo game, this is pretty scary. Even if it is rated T. Plus, he was a good guy in the beginning... of all the hunters he had the saddest and most brutal death.
He is still a cool character ^^ (did I this again...oh no)
The partners in Time is by far one of the darkest Mario games by date. The main villains Shroobs are kinda creepy aliens and the VIM concept is disturbing
Pokemon kills me with the ghost Pokemon descriptions. Like Drifloon's data saying that it looks like a balloon to entice kids to grab it and then floats away with them.
Luigi's Mansion also had the portrait ghosts descriptions that were pretty dark.
Partners in Time shocked me with how scary it could be. Especially inside Yoob if you think about what is going on in there with transforming victims into eggs that mutate them further, or Toadwood Forest with its VIM draining trees and toads hanging from them.
I got grossed out by that part. He looked like he was in such pain and Mario and Luigi were using the drill so that made me think of a dentist or something. Then he basically craps you out too as you fall out of his butt. Yoob's face during that is equally terrifying.
I'm glad they didn't make BiS that disturbing. They did a good job at making you inside of somebody, but not making it gross. I don't remember any disturbing parts inside Bowser.
The intro locations of the first two Metroid Primes were quite eerie as well. I remember how startled I was when I opened the door to be greeted by a dead, hanging Federation trooper and that haunting sound effect.
Also remind me to not go to the G.F.S. Valhalla in the middle of the night next time... on my first Corruption playthrough I did...
Metroid may be aimed for an older audience, but I was not expecting any of this creepy stuff!
Yes! I was certain that it would pop out in NOC as well. I was watching every little shadow. Then when you hear Nightmare flying around earlier before fighting it, or when you find the remains of Ridley or Serris for the first time. Fusion is up there with Prime 2 as the scariest games.
Finding the Dark Tallon Metroids eating bodies was pretty scary, and readings the various logs from fallen Luminoth warriors who were in the middle of possession. Yikes! The game was disturbing. Maybe that is a better word.
True. Some scans are really disturbing in the whole series...
One thing that made Fusion LESS scary though, is that you're not exactly killing living, innocent natives like you do usually. You're killing X mimics, which makes it a lot less disturbing. You do kill the Omega Metroid though, but screw them nobody cares.
Omega Metroids have been my enemies for years. I was glad to kill them. Metroid 2 has you going on a killing spree against the Metroids on their home world. Samus is like the villain in that game!
Every hero is a villain in their own way. It's realistic that way, actually.
Yeah thats what I adore
I remember I had this story idea which exploees around the concept. We think we are doing the right thing we think we are the heroes, bur in the end we are doingharm for some others without knowing it
Contiuing creepy things in Nintendo games:
- the chaos kin in Kid Icarus uprising...the idea of an entity that possess people is creepy
- the whole drk future arc in mydtery dungeon
Also friendly reminder that Starfy killed ten kids...not joking
