As the first act I do on this board, I will "port" over my previous fangame topics, from GameFAQs to here.
First up? Paper Mario: Relic Hunter. Written in 2013-2014, this topic was made to address and fix Sticker Star's mistakes, while still using some major gameplay elements. It was also made to tide Paper Mario fans over until Paper Mario 5 came.
This time, I'll...
+reduce all the run-on sentences.
+merge all the mistake posts with the original ones.
+fix grammar errors.
+post the replies from the original topic exactly as they were. Of course, others can post during the "port".
+Mollify/clarify a few details that I originally missed.
+Add one new area that wasn't in the original topic.
Also, here's a visual aid of some of the new characters.
Now, let's begin with something troubling, yet necessary- a waiver.
---
I, TyrorexDMZ (aka "DMZAPP"), PERMANENTLY AND IRREVOCABLY GIVE UP ANY AND ALL LEGAL RIGHTS TO NINTENDO CO. JAPAN AND SUBSIDIARIES IT WISHES TO BEQUEATH THESE RIGHTS TO REGARDING Paper Mario Relic Hunter SPECIAL MARIO RPG BOARDS VERSION IN THIS TOPIC, AS WELL AS ALMOST ANY FURTHER POST IN THIS TOPIC I PERSONALLY MAKE ABOUT IT (WITH "ALMOST" EXEMPTING THE VINTAGE REPLIES FROM THE ORIGINAL TOPIC).
As many people here know, nuclear grenades beat paper.
As they also know, during the Iwata Asks interview, the creators of Sticker Star came out and said they saw Sticker Star as the new standard for Paper Mario. And that's terrible.
However, the creators would look foolish if they didn't follow up on this statement, however much you and I wish them to do exactly that.
So, this topic is my ideas for a sequel to Sticker Star, with the following changes from that game:
GENERAL
1) Jump attacks only do 2 jumps, but a normal jump is 2 damage per jump.
-Related to that, the power of a normal hammer attack is 5.
-Start the game off with 10 HP, 10 PP and 10 SP
2) 20 damage in one attack is considered the normal highest amount of damage doable, excluding exploits.
3) Regarding coins...
-Coin blocks stay brown after being hit, as do stray coins, even if Mario exits and re-enters the stage.
-No coin denominations above 1 coin are on the overworld.
-The total number of overworld coins across all levels is 1000.
PAPER MARIO-RELATED
1) Detailed storyline again.
2) Completely new characters introduced...with some PM series veterans.
3) New levels to explore.
4) Partners are back, albeit as perks. They can be switched during battle, but their perk doesn't activate for a turn. The Tattling Partner is always out.
5) Field moves are back for true puzzle solving.
6) Tattling partner gives advice by the screen again, all of it useful.
7) Enemies can be attacked with jumps/long-range attacks at your choice again.
8) Leveling up returns...but not with Star Points.
-Plumbering Up introduced instead- related to coins donated to museum.
-Get to pick from 1 of 3 choices to Plumber Up in at a certain threshold, 8 times each
--RECOVER STYLE (Increases amount of HP and PP recovered from battle- 2 each at first, up 1 for every PU)
--PLUMBER POWER (unlocks Mega class Jump and Hammer stickers, 1 per PU).
--STICKER FANNAGE (increases amount of Sticker Points for extra packets; start with 10 SP, increases by 10 for every PU)
-Only really need to Plumber Up 12 times to beat the main story.
-HP and PP automatically increased by 5 for every Plumber Up.
9) Enemies have separate HP bars again.
10) Hammer has its original Action Command again (hold back the Control Stick).
11) Tutorials are back, to explain thought processes.
