Finally, I have Kirby Triple Deluxe. The game starts with a very beautiful scene of Kirby having fun around planet Pop Star. It gets late and Kirby goes to bed. A giant beanstalk grows over his house during the night and launches his house into the clouds! He wakes up and finds himself in the sky on the beanstalk. He follows a beanstalk to find Dedede's Castle is also in the sky, but is under attack from a mysterious invader, who kidnaps Dedede after beating the heck out of multiple Waddle Dees. Kirby chases after this mystery invader.
First thing I noticed is that the graphics are superb! I could not believe that these graphics rivaled, and sometimes beat Return to Dream Land. It is that good. The game shows so much detail. I've only played the first two levels, so I only expect the levels to become more complicated and beautiful. One thing I noticed is Kirby's facial expressions, which are extremely detailed and comical.
The main objective in levels this time is to collect items called Sun Stones which open the way to the bosses apparently. Also, nostalgic keychains are littered throughout the levels. As far as I can tell, these are just collected for fun. I found a Dyna Blade Keychain and it brought back so many memories. I also have a Flame Kirby Keychain, which reminds me of the power, which is one of my favorites.
Mini-bosses are way more fun in this game. Mr. Frosty returns and uses ice to try to freeze Kirby. Everybody here knows I'm obsessed with ice powers so this was the best moment so far. I beat him and absorbed his powers. The other bosses are also more challenging and involved some thought to defeat.
The new powers rock. Bell Kirby kicks major tail and Kirby can also obtain a power that allows him to inhale huge objects and anything in his path. He truly becomes a monster in this mode as he is almost unstoppable.
Puzzles seem to be a part of this game. I had to use the inhaling ability to move boxes to advance and switching between the background and foreground can become a puzzle of its own as you learn to navigate. Motion controls pop up in some puzzles, such as Kirby jumping into a huge pot of water as the player must tilt the 3DS to put out a fire or water plants. Motion controls are very effective so far.
I'll update more as I progress, but this is great so far! ^_^
