So i was very excited for this game for a long time. I absolutely LOVE the Layton series and the Ace attorney seems good series too. So when the game was first annouced I was like am I dreaming. Please say that I am not. And I waited for this game. And now it finally came. IT. IS. GREAT.
So the game starts when a young girl named Espella Cantabella arrives at Laytons office. She claims that she is from a fantasy land called Labyrinthia and hunted by witches. Soon Layton andhis apprentice Luke Triton find themselves in Labyrinthia. This town is led by a god like creator known as the Storyteller, whose predictions come true. The town also is lived by the fear of witches and they have witch trials. Espella is accused of being a witch and here is where our favorite defence attorney comes in. Layton and Wright team up to solve the mystery of Labyrinthia and to help Espella
So the game is divided between adventure and courtroom selections. I expected that the adventure sections would purely be Layton centric while the courtroom section would purely be Wrights. Instead it isnt so. Wright appears in the adventure section as well. In fact the adventure section seemef more dominating since we only get like three trials (not countig the tutorial one). Then again the last trial is divided to multiple chapters.
Next the humor. The game is so funny that sometimes you literally laugh your lungs off. I expected the game to be a bit more serious (given the witch trials and all) but instead it is so funny. There is darker moments, especially at the end game
As for the new characters I was slightly sceptic. I was afraid that the new characters would be boring and one dimensional. But boy I was wrong. The new characters were do interesting and great. I liked most of them.
And finally the soundtrack. I am a fan of videogamemusic and this game was no expection. The music is just so majestic.I esprcially liked the arragements of some Layton tracks as well some other songs
Overall a great game that I highly recommend for adventure game fans. The game is also a bit easier than the Layton games (dunno about AA) so it is beginner friendly
