I dont know if you guys know but in the uk version of Nintendos site there is a character hub. It has information about beloved characters from beloved franchises such as Mario, Link, Pikachu and Kirby. But here does the things get interesting. One of the listed characters is Professor Layton. And not only that,but he is the third one listed, right after Mario and Link. Yes he is before Pikachu and Kirby.
So I think this tells us that our favorite top hatted gentlemans series is a bit more popular than we think. It also tells (for me at least, it isnt officially stated or anything) that the ONLY reason he isnt in smash is because he is a third party character and Sakurai stated that he doesnt want too much 3d parties.

That is awesome. Are there other characters listed that are not playable? Layton would be so fun to play as. I hope he reconsiders and puts him in the series. Good find! ^_^
