I feel this needs bumping since everyone seems to be running around screaming that the sky is falling after Color Splash was announced last week.
We've seen one level, guys. Calm your tits.
One thing I haven't seen anybody talk about is that the locations shown so far aren't the grass, desert, etc shit we got from Sticker Star. The location in fact reminds me a bit of TTYD.
Another thing I'm glad to see is the stickers (and by extension the scrapbook) gone. Hopefully this will mean a more organized menu. That scrapbook drove me crazy with the different sizes stickers can be and whatnot.
That being said, this is drastically different from the traditional Paper Mario gameplay once again. The RPG elements from previous installments are nowhere to be seen. Is this still an RPG franchise? The man in the trailer did refer to it as an action-adventure game. Perhaps the game isn't an RPG (and perhaps Sticker Star wasn't either). If so, that's fine by me. I love action adventure games like Zelda, so hopefully Paper Mario tackles the genre well this time around.
And even if this is the end for Paper Mario's role-playing days, Mario RPGs still aren't dead. First of all, we always have Mario & Luigi. Secondly, who knows what could happen in the future? Maybe we'll see a new Mario RPG emerge.
So until that time comes, this is Magikrazy saying, "I'm psyched for Color Splash".
oh reality, it's not for me and it makes me laugh oh, fantasy world and disney girls i'm coming back

Tbh, as i said my main source of anger is not as much as the possibility of Paper Mario being dead than the blatant disregard of fan's oppinions.
You release a new formula, many fans don't like it and ask for a return to a more traditional formula and what do IS do ? Pull another game with the same Sticker Star formula again.
Basically it give the feeling that IS simply don't listen to feedback, so it's kinda obvious many fans are quite angry about it.
And as mentionned while the new areas are quite nice, it's a punch to the face since i feel that such graphism with novel areas would work better but a formula closer to PM64/PMTTYD than SS, give the feeling it's wasted potential.
And anyway as you said, M&L is still going strong (i admit i feared AlphaDream might butch PJ but actually not only they managed to pull a decent RPG but also they directly reasurred the fans with Miiting explaining that no, the whole "generic areas and mainstream stuff" is only an one time thing since it's a crossover and not a full traditional M&L)
That's probably why i jumped the M&L bandwagon since at least i know that AlphaDream is honest and actually listen to feedback.

it's odd that IS didnt listen to the feedback, considering that they have done that with their other fire emblem (like ppl criticised radiant dawn not having support convos. woah awakening has full of them. Then in awakening some people criticized the story not being on par with other games and apparently fates fixed this (not sure since I haven't played fates haha but still )). So why don't they listen to fan complaints in PM???
I like when companies are experimental with their IPs but don't just be experimental and listen to fans haha.

True, if IS like so much the Sticker Star elements, they could have returned to the traditional formula with some SS elements that they could improve upon.
Instead they continue fully this route, alienating a good chunk of the fanbase in the process...
Unless it's a secret plan to force all the PM fans to go into the M&L fandom
