I have been thinking this for a long time, but have any of you ever noticed just how strong the side characters were in this chapter. It is all opinion, of course, but I think this chapter stood out from the others in the sheer volume of characters and the quality of those characters. Let's take a look at some of them.
The most popular chapter from the game seems to be Ch. 3, where Mario and crew visit Glitzville! The Glitz Pit gives us so many personalities, it could actually become hard to keep up with them all! Starting off, we have Grubba and Jolene. Neither of them are quite what they seem. Grubba is an ex-fighter turned promoter and Jolene is his assistant. Grubba alone is given a huge amount of character. He grew up poor and dreamed of being rich. He became a fighter and later a promoter. He is easily one of the most despicable characters in the series because of his actions throughout the chapter, but he seems like a good guy at first. Jolene seems much worse, but is actually a sweet lady who loves her brother. These characters made this chapter for me.
The Minor League Crew comes next, King K is the cool guy, who is not a sore loser. He welcomes Mario right away. He is positive despite his rank being so low. Bandy Andy is my personal favorite of the crew, as he is always sneaking around investigating mysterious. He tells the players about the various mysteries surrounding the Glitz Pit. This really helped set up the ominous feeling of the chapter. Master Crash is next, and he is always giving advice on how to better oneself. He was pretty cool. Cleftor rounds out the group as the tough guy who eventually warms up to Mario. These guys were just the best!
The Major League Crew is quite different. We have Shellshock, who serves as the shady version of King K. and is immediately rude to the player. He becomes cooler, but is a cake thief. Spiky Joe is always talking about his spike. Koopinator is a true contender and is always deadly serious! Hamma Jamma seems like the most laid back, telling Mario about his hammer and how his Grandpappy have it to him!
See what I mean? So many characters, and this is not even all of them. We have Hoggle, and Rawk Hawk!
What did you all think of the characters from this chapter? Perhaps another chapter stood out more to you?
