I'm going to post a Goosebumps book every day until I get to my favorite. This is a top 10 Goosebumps list. Hopefully, some you remember these books. They were the 90's in so many ways. Many schools even wanted to ban them because they contained some dark moments for children. Let's get started!
10. Night of The Living Dummy.
Just look at that cover! This book scared me to death when I was little. Puppets are scary. The dummy on the cover is named Slappy, but the book is about a dummy named Mr. Wood (so original). This particular dummy comes to life after a magic phrase is spoken. The two girls who own him, Lindy and Mindy, soon become victims of this abusive dummy. This book was dark when I was little because the dummy tries to murder the family dog, but looking back as an adult I find this book even more disturbing. Mr. Woods is obsessed with making the young girls his slaves! He chokes them, slaps them, and causes mischief in the house, alienating the girls from their parents, who obviously do not believe the dummy is alive. Finally the girls defeat the evil Mr. Wood by crushing him, but then they find out Slappy is also alive!
We never hear from the girls again. The sequel to this book features new girls. Their fate is unknown.
You can actually buy a replica of Slappy the Dummy! He is, without a doubt, the face of the franchise. Later on in sequels he tried to marry the 12 year-old girls and punches them while saying he is giving them "love taps" and it only gets more disturbing.
Puppets suck! Shocked we never got a book about a clown.
