I will wait for more infos but so far, i'm not much interested.
Basically it's ok so far, but it could be a lot better.
Edit: Starlow directly mention about the possibility of the two Bowser teaming up and say Paper Mario & Mario & luigi must team up right in the beggining of the game.
Idk but i feel Alpha Dream will either go with a plain "Both Peach are kidnaped, go save them and the world from the two Bowser" or they'll reserve us a surprise later.

Yeah, give us more Bowsers. Man, this is like a sick joke. I do not even want two Marios. Since when are they different anyway? I always saw Paper Mario as an art style, not some Twilight Zone alternate universe.
Well, whatever. It does seem like filler. I get that vibe too, but the idea is still okay enough on its own.

I thought it was always obvious Paper Mario was a book, especially considering the levels are called "Chapters" and the Smash Bros stage trasistions like a pop-up book.
oh reality, it's not for me and it makes me laugh oh, fantasy world and disney girls i'm coming back

Same here, actually. When I was playing Super Paper Mario for the first time, it reminded me of one of my favourite picture books at the time (can't remember it now).
No it couldn't potentially be like that. It could never potentially be like that. The game is already going to be bloated from just the regular mushroom kingdom folk and their paper counterparts. Not to mention that this isn't some huge budget game made by one of Nintendo's prime developers.
Now i wouldn't be surprised if a few DT's OC came back since this game seems to re-use DT sprites a lot, as for PM idk, they could go the SS way or bring a few TTYD OC's in the mix (since Paper Mario is clearly having a few TTYD nods like the Paper plane move)
But villain-wise i'm not so sure (except maybe an Antasma & Popple cameo ?)
I'm not expecting some huge crossover but at least it would be nice if they drew inspiration from both all the PM & M&L games rather than just DT and Sticker Star.
I also saw Paper Mario games as books, which fit into the art style of the game. However, I always saw it as a visual style and for storytelling purposes. I never thought it was some other world, just a creative spin on Mario.
Yoshi Story and Yoshi's Island also had distinct art styles that differed drastically from the other games in the series, but that never meant they were alternate universes. Heck, Yoshi's Island looks like a coloring book. Super Mario Bros. 3 also had level that looked like stages. Actual stages used in plays. All artistic choices.
Anyway, not a huge point against this game. I just felt lie pointing all this out. I do not care if we get a multiverse as long as the game lives up to the quality set by each series.
Thousand-Year Door could not be a retelling as at the end Flurrie goes on to retell that story on stage.
Then again, it did open as a book, similar to SPM. So either they told actual events in story book fashion, or they are retelling the stories. We know the paper abilities were used and not just part of a story.
SPM as a bad fanfiction. That's funny. I love the game, but still pretty funny.
I think all these art styles and visuals should not be looked into too much, overall.
Back to Jam, I wonder how long the game will be. Dream Team was long. Shorter than that would be okay for me, but longer than PIT. BIS length is probably the gold standard.
It took a decade, but those tutorials are now shorter!
They should be optional like Mario RPG or thousand-Year Door. Gamers are treated like retards now. I can understand explaining some stylus battles, but nothing else really warrants huge tutorials.
Tutorials were the worst part of the games, especially in PIT where every trip to the castle after a section of the game meant a tutorials for a new move.
Black Chest Demons were a humorous way to disguise tutorials. I am okay with creative methods like that in the games.
I better wait to see how this one turns out before buying it on the first day like I did with Sticker Star.
Too many Toads is usually a warning sign.
Paper Mario did have a lot of Toads, though. So I am not too worried. I only need a few unique characters. Even if one is a Toad. I am just starved for something at this point.
Hopefully Bowser resembles his BIS self throughout the game with his dialogue.
But yeah it need more variety, i liked how previous Mario rpg went around this limit by giving the Toads some accessories, it helped setting them appart.
