Do you prefer Wario game to be Puzzle games or Platformer games?
Obviously, a mix of both is great, but which would you prefer if you had to choose.
I am conflicted (coinflicted?) over this issue. I love the puzzles in Wario Land 2. This makes all the levels unique and always the player to go back to levels and search for multiple exits or secrets. However, Wario also did great taking down Captain Syrup in the original Wario Land, which was mostly a platformer.

I've only played one game in the Wario series, and it's pretty much a puzzle platformer. (Wario: Master of Disguise. There was platforming but it relied a lot on changing forms and using those forms creatively. Even bosses were kind of their own puzzles) I can't speak for the rest of the series, but I've heard people say Master of Disguise is one of the worse games, and I kinda liked it so I will probably really like the other ones. When I get around to playing them that is.
Wario Land 2 was the same way. Tons of running and jumping, but most of it involved using various powers to find your way through a level. One even involved Wario eating cake and becoming fat(fatter!) in order to weigh down certain platforms and make them lower.
Look up some levels from Wario Land 2 if you need an example of the type of puzzles I am talking about here. They involve platforming. Not like Tetris or any straight up puzzle games.
Would rather go to Waffle Kingdom than this Mushroom crap.

Probably platformers because the prospects of him suffering a slow and unusual death is much more tipped in my favor.
A more serious answer is a platformer. Wario Land has been consistently good, or so I believe, and I believe we're long overdue for a Wario platformer. Game & Wario... on the other hand... it didn't do so well. People are tired of WarioWare, right?
I do want more platformers. When I say I like puzzles I mean the platformer/puzzle hybrids. I want more proper games for Wario. His games remain some of my best GameBoy titles.

Yeah, I don't think Wario is suited for the puzzle type. He should probably focus more on the action since that requires him using what he's best at: getting beaten up brute force
The puzzles in Wario Land 2 used brute force and quirky powers, such as Wario eating cake and becoming obese to lower platforms and rolling down hills like a boulder in order to break blocks. those are the puzzles I am talking about. Not like a Tetris game.

Yeah, Wario Land 2 balanced the action and puzzles well. Wario needs to have more action to set him apart form the Mario series.
I enjoy playing as him in Mario 64 DS because of his great punch. His jump is like the hard mode for the game. So maybe if he has some more abilities that rely on action/power then he would be separated from Mario.
Definitely plaformers for me. I absolutely love Wario Land 4; think it's probably the best platformer of all time in my opinion. Great graphics, great music (and unique for each level too), some really cool levels (like Crescent Moon Village) and way more depth than you'd ever imagine character wise.
Add how much I liked the other Wario Land games, and WarioWare can't even compare.
That said, I do like the WarioWare series a lot. Just not as much as Wario Land.
Wario fan, Mario game modder and interested in every Mario RPG you can imagine!
I also run Wario Forums, which is a place to discuss the Wario Land and WarioWare franchises.

Favourite is Wario Land 4 without a doubt. Loved the level design the most in the game, as well as the themes and ideas in general. I mean, every level felt fresh and original, with ideas like a creepy village, a pinball machine, a landfill site, a board game, etc. Every single one was more interesting than the worlds or levels in your standard Mario platformer. Same with the bosses. What can compare to a laser shooting cuckoo clock?
I also liked how each one had its own feel. Music was never reused across levels. Graphics were never reused across levels. Every little detail was thought out to the perfect degree, down to things like the Palm Tree Paradise music echoing in cave areas:
It's a whole big tileset with animations, for TWO ROOMS in a level. Something like New Super Mario Bros would try and stretch a whole world's worth of usage from that tileset. This game uses it for two rooms, alongside a whole new, equally detailed one for the snowy areas.

I must say Wario land 4 is so creative and original. I also love the hidden depth and Shokora is cool (not as cool as captain Syrup but still I like Shokora)
Btw I dont think Marioseries (nowadays at least) is creatibe. I think that Waruo land,Kirby and even Stafy are more creative plattformers imo (or at least I prefer the aesthetic of those IPs over the aestgetic in Mario...i still like Mario tho)

It's really too bad that I loathe the character in those games, I really do. It's the same reason I don't play Donkey Kong Country games (although if I can play as only Diddy, I'm up for it). Call me irrational, but I really dislike them and they kind of impact my enjoyment of the game.
That being said, my sister does have a GBA port of Wario Land 4, but she hasn't played it much.
I do agree that Mario platformers aren't really a looker. Kirby, StarKirby, Wario Land, Donkey Kong Country, and Rayman outdo them.
I love Wario Land 2. that was my favorite of the bunch, although some of the scrolling could get frustrating if something knocked you back down the screen when you are at the top, forcing you to do it all over again. GameBoy limitations can be a pain.

And why in the hell is not a good idea to be both of them...I mean fuck, the platformers were funny and fun..You could be a zombie or you could fly by being attaced by a bee...it takes the pain things funnier on the game and put it as an hability....Puzzles let you think about what path to make, so...im more on the side of platformers but if it could be both, both.

Yeah, he was slow. And no jumping, and having to plod all the way back to sunlight! Ah, I loved that game and its quirky powers that actually becomes obstacles.
