There is theory that the Shroobs were created by Fawful and Cackletta, but the theory isn't really good. The Shroobs were just an alien race that was soon going to be instinct.

What ? That's sound stupid.
As far i'am concerned they are just aliens who came from their dying planet on the Mushroom Kingdom in hope of having a new home, which from their point of views mean exterminating the natives and shroobify the rest along with the world.

As for the other theory, I have something different. That planet we saw wasn't their planet but one that they took over and have completely Shoobify. I see them them going to planet to planet take every they can and move on to the next.
I see them as a type of space virus that migrates from one planet to another. They take over and exhaust the resources before moving on to a new "home" for them to conquer. They evolve and adapt before destroying, hence the virus comparisons. They sound like bacteria!

I saw a comment for the Shroobs as in theory, where he knows why they die from baby tears is because all the Shroobs know is blind rage. Then they see that depression is too much for them to handle in baby tears, the theory is actually really good but someone busted by saying "Baby tears don't always mean sadness." Then some say that the Shroobs are like Slugs on how Slugs don't like salt while Shroobs are weak to ice.
Or maybe the baby tears represent innocence and the Shroobs cannot comprehend that state of mind. The babies are completely innocent and naive as to what is going on, after all. The Shroobs are calculating and cold whereas the babies remain innocent throughout. They are warm and welcoming, basically.

That means that the Shroobs would have to die by people because of their own knowledge and survival. The Shroobs are between death and death, their a hopeless race. It all started from the beginning that they would die.

So in other words, they're the Combine from Half Life?
Because there are definitely similarities there.
As for my own explanation, I'd just say aliens from a dying planet. Was it there own/first planet? Who knows. But it seems more likely they're just alien invaders than some weird genetic or magic experiment.
