Have you guys ever tried to play the Monster Hunter series?
Dear lord, this particular game has to rank among the hardest I have ever played, let alone on the 3DS. Basically, you are a hunter tasked with killing monsters for a village. You also do some other things, like treasure hunting and fishing, but mostly you will kill monsters.
The game has a few areas, such as a Swamp, Volcano, Tundra, and Desert. All of these areas have monsters who are indigenous to the area, so hunting all of the various monsters will involve some mastery of each environment. Speaking of mastery, each hunter can choose to wield a certain weapon. You can be a gunner, who shoots monsters from a vantage point. This range is helpful for some fights. or you can master a blade.
I like to be a blade master. You have some choices over blades, such as the Great Sword, which is terrifyingly powerful, but limits your movement. I like to use Dual Swords. This allows the user to wield a blade in each hand. The hunter can updrade these weapons by killing monster and harvesting their parts. That adds a slight RPG element, so those without patience may be turned off. Even I have not tried all of the weapons.
Here's hoping to you guys trying this out. This game may be acquired taste.

Sounds like something my nephew would love. I'm not a huge fan of those types of games, but I may in the future. Is there one for the Wii U as well? I think I recall something in a Nintendo Direct about it a while back.
Yes, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is also on the Wii U, and the Wii had Monster Hunter Tri. Monster Hunter 4 will come to the 3DS as well. It is already in Japan.
I did not think the game was my type either, but I decided to branch out. I'm glad I did. The 3DS has actually allowed me to branch out to many new series, such as Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, and Kid Icarus.
