LEGAL WAIVER
I, TYROREXDMZ (hereafter also referred to as “DMZapp”, “I”, ”my”, and all first person pronouns) permanently and irrevocably waive any and all rights to Nintendo Co. Ltd (hereafter also referred to as "Nintendo", “Nintendo of Japan”, "them", "their" and "they") regarding MY IDEAS FOR MARIO STORY FRUIT SHAKE, as well as any further post I personally make in this topic/thread, the GameFAQs version of this topic/thread, and/or any further dedicated topics/threads on any website, message board or discussion platform anywhere, including website types not mentioned or yet to be discovered/invented. I also waive any & all rights to Nintendo regarding images I personally create, alter and/or display in some way regarding MY IDEAS FOR MARIO STORY FRUIT SHAKE, as well as the ideas the images convey. All loopholes which would circumvent the intention of this waiver (TO GIVE NINTENDO THE RIGHTS TO NEW IDEAS REGARDING PAPER MARIO SO THEY AREN'T LOCKED OUT OF SELECT PARTS OF THEIR OWN FRANCHISE) are closed.
END LEGAL WAIVER

As many people know, all toasters toast toast.
As many people also know, Nintendo has been restoring the roots and quality of their Switch installments for various Mario games. From the main Nintendo team's Super Mario Odyssey playing out more like Super Mario 64 and Sunshine, to ND Cube's Super Mario Party ditching the car for the first console game in years in the service of more skill-based play, to Mario Tennis Aces containing meaningful content, it's a veritable Mario renasaince. All that's left is for Paper Mario to regain it's RPG platformer identity, and we're back on track.
Yet some fans, as well as myself, have felt the current producers of the Paper Mario series are oddballs in really listening to fan feedback, and may end up the mavericks in this trend. Not helping their case is the fact while they'll more than gladly use the visuals for past Paper Mario games, they won't actually credit those past Paper Mario games or even act as though they came up with the ideas.
In the past, I have posted various Paper Mario RPG platformer fangame topics, both original and Recuts of certain games. However, a year ago, I came to the conclusion I can't keep doing this forever, as I just can't prioritize so much time. On a potentially more pressing matter is the idiotic Article 13 passed in Europe, that could serve to complicate matters even if I did return for one more topic. Therefore, this is the final Paper Mario fangame topic I am making. If Paper Mario Switch ends up bad as well, you're on your own (though a friend has offered to do Recut 3 in my absence). That said, I will be leaving some stuff within the topic to act as a placebo and recontextualize any future generic-style Paper Mario game in a different light.
You might be asking "What was with the long delay between the promo topic for Fruit Shake and the actual one"? Well, I kind of got distracted creating sprites for several Mario and Paper Mario characters not in Fruit Shake. It was supposed to just be Goombario and Goombella, then one thing lead to another, and before I knew it, nearly two years passed. Truth be told, while the base story, all character sprites, and almost all meta data is done, the actual script and various fake screenshots (of which there are projected to be several more than previous OG only Paper Mario Wonder Journey) are not as of this writing. In light of this, posts may be infrequent compared to previous topics. I apologize for this lack of professionalism and timekeeping on my part- I just kind of have to get this done, now. Yet I have to take time to get it right.
Also, if you're a hardcore fan of the eighth gen games, this topic isn't for you. As a form of payback towards the eighth gen development team for their approach on Paper Mario's past, other than this opening post explaining it, there will be almost no references to the original non-Recut versions of "Recut 1" (3DS) or "Recut 2" (Wii U). Most that make it in will favor completely Recut-exclusive details (characters that don't have official "counterparts", Recut-only locations) that could plausibly be true of both the official and DMZ timelines, as Fruit Shake does take place in both. Even the very, very, very, very, very few references to non-Recut originating concepts present have a "catch" to them, to serve as a reminder that the eighth gen development set precedent to have their own games karmically ignored in the future.
One more thing- I was initially planning to post this topic on Fandom's Fantendo sub-site. Unfortunately, something weird is going on there as of this writing, as my antivirus is picking up something bad. Cross-corroboration and investigation leads me to believe it is not a false positive. Therefore, the Fantendo version of Fruit Shake will have to wait while I investigate further.
Last but not least, some links explaining why my waivers aren't the usual "I do not own", but rather "Nintendo owns even the stuff that can't believably be derived from pre-existing assets by their writers and artists."

I think we're done with all the sad stuff. Now let's hit the islands, and restore some roots!
