That would be one of the best moments in an RPG. To find out that all your work was for nothing and then have to find a new way to win. Great idea. I would love to see that. Might make the game a little long.
BIS did a fantastic job with it, as expected. That was probably the closest to his ideal personality and role for me.
Bleck did rely on others too, but Dimentio used others. Huge difference in mindsets there. Antasma would lean towards Bleck's methods, but even more so connected with his helpers.

I think such plot twist would work perfectly in a Paper mario game, you alway collect items to weaken the villain, yet in this one you would collect the items thinking they will weaken the villain, only to discover that they don't.
I think Antasma would be in between, he would use the Shroobs as pawns (mostly because they are too psychotic to be trusted) but would actually care for Midbus, probably saying something like "you are like that other king vhich i once vorked vith but unlike him you're loyal and i like this.
I have always wanted that twist in a way. It would be such a slap in the face, but so original!
I agree. The Shroobs are not too worthy of respect. They have simple drives, only wanting power. They would betray Antasma if he did not cut them loose after a while. I like that Antasma notices the similarities between Bowser and Midbus, but notices the good qualities in Midbus.

Also Antasma is an expy of Count Dracula but also Nightmare from Kirby, that why i'm thinking that if they add him traits of Paper mario villains, they should make the redesign an expy of Taranza or Magolor (first master crown form)in addition of the Dracula appearance, having a fiery cape with the Vines/flower form having nods to Queen Sectonia (also bats are known to be a pollinating species like the bees, so it would work)
Bats are known to be a pollinating species? Wow, learn something new every day!
I also never noticed Dreambert resembling Magolor. I see it. Most of all I think it is cool you brought up Nightmare! I forgot all about him and I agree. His design will be very intricate. More so than most villains.
Did you play Triple Deluxe or just read about it? You already know a lot about the characters!

This explain why he can use vines and also why his Antasmunchies can become insect-like.
I'm thinking Magolor's first form because of the portals that shoot weird vines, the dimensions association and the fact he has some inspirations from Nightmare and Taranza because of the multi hands (combined with the Shadow Queen's hands would make an intersting ability for Antasma) and the fact he was mistaken for a girl.
Oh, i think about Antasma having floating hands not impossible: It would also serve as grim reminder that his body explosed last time.
Yeah, I love the dimension and hands abilities! We need Antasma to regain a solid body somehow or his old body. He also needs to have way more potent abilities than those other villains, including his dimensional abilities.
I made a thread in general video games about Triple Deluxe. Hopefully you love it! I hope you get it soon. I'm still playing it. It is a great game.

Another example of Antasma having floating hands is during the tutorial, he briefly appear in smoke form with floating hands.
Considering BIS tutorial foreshadowed DT with Luigi's sleeping i could see Antasma first coming back as smoke-like with floating hands, cape and head (would be also a nice nod to incomplete Dark Bowser), then as the game progress regaining a more solid body.
If i can get a 3DS one day, i'll get it (i'm not very rich you know and i have to fix my laptop first)
Yeah, I remember that. Floating hands would be a nice touch anyway.
PIT foreshadowed BIS with Fawful's shop, and BIS foreshadowed DT, as you said. So the designers like to foreshadow and use cameos, and nods to the other games. I could see Antasma growing in that fashion. Then at the end his body will be complete.
Yeah, I got my 3DS and no other new systems. I chose 3DS because I knew Dark Moon and Paper Mario would come to the system. One of those was really worth it! I'm not rich either dude. So I understand waiting. Thankfully, 3DS games are cheaper than console games so I can afford those. Laptop is number one priority though, I agree. That can cost a lot though.

I could also see Antasma gaining legs by the end, all villains have one bar the incomplete dark bowser (in fact the Antasmunchies could foreshadow that since they grew legs and 3 spikes on their top)
I've noticed also that Antasma doesn't have the Princess shroob trait (instead he has the traits of the elder one)
And it would be funny if Antasma worked as the "Elder" version of Count Bleck (Basically a taller, more stout and brutal version) like how the Elder shroob princess is this to the younger.

Either he would gain some nice Dracula-like clothes....or a black spandex like Fawful's spandex
Technically yes but it would be still nice to have Antasma having the traits of the younger as well...through it may mean he would get even more feminine and have purple lipstick(through if done correctly it could give him a Shadow Queen vibe which would be pretty creepy to see and fitting if he merge with his vines)
I think Antasma would use more brutal magic and physical strenght than Bleck.
Black spandex actually works. It works on Fawful. It looked great. Atnasma could pull off the look.
Feminine is fine, as he is that type of villain and seem like a small frame anyway. Never thought about lipstick though. lol Shadow Queen vibe would feel very sinister. It might fit him in a way though, towards the end. Not before that though.
You think he is more physical? Yeah, I could see that maybe. I knew his magic would be more destructive and I guess having traits from Elder Shroob and Shadow Queen would make him physically strong.
Post by solidfalcon3 on May 9, 2014 18:02:30 GMT -5
Come to think of it, yes it could work.
Yeah, the shadow queen vibe would work toward the end, specially if he merge with his vines since it would also reference King Croacus.
He has super stenght, like to ram you with his multi bats attack, first thing he do in the game is slapping away most of the Zeepelin crew, use attacks which can damage him and he get into a physical fight with dreambert. He is definitelly more physical and violent than Bleck

True, he is a lot more physical. I still see him leaning toward mage, at least in his current state. Still, definitely more physical than Bleck, good point. He is more hands on and ready to fight his own battles and duels too, but can also still be a mastermind. He is just so complicated. He could be a fighter, or a mage. He could be a mastermind pulling the strings, or a main force. So deep, man.

I think his main weakness is that his attacks are so powerful they end up damaging him. I could almost see him using the void, only to get sucked in it with his opponent
Still, i think a nice way give him the princess shroob traits would be that when he would get complete, the trait would implemented in such way that antasma gaining legs and more solid body wouldn't look weird.
You know that happened to Exdeath from Final Fantasy V. He harnessed the power of the void only to be sucked into it and transformed into a monstrous mixture of creatures. Antasma is already a mixture of sorts, but still. Would be cool if they can't beat him and he is only defeated by his own powers.
Yeah, that's a good way to give him the traits. A solid body would help make it look natural.

Think about it, Antasma's gain side spikes which grow longer as he get more powerful, should he'd become complete, he would gain Dark matter-like hair with the younger shroob princess traits and an appearance akin to Count Bleck
Post by solidfalcon3 on May 10, 2014 13:49:14 GMT -5
It would give him a more battle hardened look than Bleck.
I would argue all those transformations would be transitional like in DT: Original backstory form (revealed next game) > cursed tiny bat > Current form after eating nightmares > Sealed form > Smoke form > Bat form > go back to true form > Battle form
Then in next game: true form but with traits of smoke form and battle form (like incomplete Dark Bowser) > complete himself midgame after stealing elder shroob princess's power (which is a mix of original backstory form and true form) > merge with vines > Complete form which has a power boost because of standing in a Timepoint.
Yeah, let's have him rip himself from the vines. That sounds cool.
Wow, never noticed Antasma had the most forms! Happy day! Now we just made him even better. It would be a shame to have a villain with so many forms to never return. He better come back!

This would be pretty creepy but hey it's the RPG, the RPG tend to have some Kirby level darkness (specialy Paper Mario)
i didn't count the form where he merge with Bowser and the Mario nightmare in which he get a slighty larger battle form. And he did all those forms with minimal screen time, so i think he could pull off a few more ones if he got more screen time.

Only the Luigi's mansion series could be a bit darker (i have heard that originaly the first Luigi's mansion was going to be rated T but they cut down the stuff to get a E rating) and since Antasma would be a Luigi's ennemy
Might be a call back to Antasma's quote: "I haff changed Dreambert, you haff been varned"
Here he changed to the point that he no longer view dreambert as his arch-ennemy but a small pest in the scheme of his plans
